Tritium Training Course

Since its launch in April 2023, our Tritium Training Course has provided world-class development to more than 180 fusion industry professionals. The course modules include:

  • tritium fundamentals
  • the tritium fuel cycle
  • tritium plant key concepts

Remote Handling Training Course

This four-day in-person training course aims to provide managers, designers and operators with a broad view of the Remote Operations specialism.

The next Remote Handling Training Course event is from 2 March 2026 to 5 March 2026.

Fusion Industry School

This four-day in person course is aimed at industry professionals new to the sector, delivering an overview of fusion energy and the engineering applications.

The Fusion Centre for Doctoral Training and UKAEA host the school which offers expert-led talks, panel sessions and networking opportunities.

Fusion Engineering Academy

The Fusion Engineering Academy is a two-week training course aimed at engineers and scientists. It covers a range of subjects combining lectures, tutor sessions and relevant hands-on experience at the facilities at UKAEA’s Culham Campus.

The next Fusion Engineering Academy event is from 9 February 2026 to 5 March 2026.

Culham Plasma Physics Summer School

The Culham Plasma Physics Summer School is a two-week introductory programme at UKAEA’s Culham Campus.  It covers fundamental plasma physics and its applications, including fusion, astrophysics and low-temperature plasmas.

The programme is aimed at Masters and early-career PhD students and features lectures by experts, problem-solving sessions, and tours of fusion facilities like the Joint European Torus (JET) and the Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak (MAST) Upgrade. There are also social events and opportunities for networking.

Professional training courses at Oxford Advanced Skills

Oxfordshire Advanced Skills (OAS) offers high quality training for apprentice engineers and technicians at technology businesses in the Thames Valley.

The OAS Level 3 hi-tech engineering apprenticeship programme provides training on the latest technology, alongside traditional engineering skills. It is delivered both at a state-of-the-art training centre and in industry.

OAS offers future skills training through its Level 4 to 6 apprenticeship programmes to help develop the next generation of engineering leaders.
